Molasses Cake (not Gingerbread!)

Ingredients
- 2 1/8 cups flour (10.5 oz)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/3 teaspoons baking soda
- 12 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup brown sugar (1.75 oz)
- 1/4 cup sugar (1.75 oz)
- 1 1/3 cups molasses (not blackstrap!!!)
- 1 egg
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 -2 cup chocolate chips (substitute any chip, chunk or nut) (optional)
Recipe
- 1 oven: 325.
- 2 grease 2 8" round pans.
- 3 mix flour, salt, & soda.
- 4 mix butter & sugars, add molasses.
- 5 mix in egg, yolk, and vanilla.
- 6 add dry ingredients; stir in chips.
- 7 bake about 25-30 minutes, until toothpick comes out clean.
