Irish Chocolate Velvet

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 5 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup whipping cream
  • 1 2/3 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 4 ounces milk chocolate, broken into squares
  • 4 tablespoons irish whiskey or 4 tablespoons brandy
  • whipped cream (for topping)
  • chocolate curls (to decorate)

Recipe

  • 1 whip the cream in a bowl until it is thick enough to hold its shape.
  • 2 put the milk into a saucepan and whisk in the cocoa powder.
  • 3 add the chocolate squares and heat gently, stirring, until the chocolate has melted.
  • 4 bring the chocolate milk to the boil.
  • 5 remove pan from heat and add the whipped cream and whiskey or brandy.
  • 6 stir gently for 1 minute to blend well.
  • 7 pour quickly into 3 heatproof mugs or glasses and top each serving with a generous spoonful of whipped cream.
  • 8 decorate with chocolate curls and serve at once.
