Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cake

Ingredients

- 1 3/4 cups boiling water
- 1 cup quick oatmeal
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup margarine
- 2 extra large eggs
- 1 3/4 cups unsifted flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons cocoa
- 12 ounces chocolate chips
- 3/4 cup chopped nuts
Recipe
- 1 pour the boiling water over the oatmeal in a large mixing bowl.
- 2 let stand 10 minutes.
- 3 add the margarine to the hot mixture.
- 4 when the margarine is melted add the two sugars and mix well.
- 5 mix dry ingredients and add to oatmeal mixture along with about half of the chocolate chips.
- 6 pour the mixture into 9x13 inch pan and sprinkle with remaining chocolate chips and the nuts bake in 350 degree oven 40 minutes or until done.
