Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cake

Ingredients

• 1 3/4 cups boiling water
• 1 cup quick oatmeal
• 1 cup packed brown sugar
• 1 cup sugar
• 1/2 cup margarine
• 2 extra large eggs
• 1 3/4 cups unsifted flour
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 2 tablespoons cocoa
• 12 ounces chocolate chips
• 3/4 cup chopped nuts

Recipe

• 1 pour the boiling water over the oatmeal in a large mixing bowl.
• 2 let stand 10 minutes.
• 3 add the margarine to the hot mixture.
• 4 when the margarine is melted add the two sugars and mix well.
• 5 mix dry ingredients and add to oatmeal mixture along with about half of the chocolate chips.
• 6 pour the mixture into 9x13 inch pan and sprinkle with remaining chocolate chips and the nuts bake in 350 degree oven 40 minutes or until done.
