Sponge Candy

Ingredients

  • Servings: 24
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup dark corn syrup
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • chocolate, melted

Recipe

  • 1 in a large, heavy saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup and vanilla.
  • 2 bring to boil over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  • 3 cook, without stirring, to 290-300°f.
  • 4 remove from heat.
  • 5 quickly stir in baking soda.
  • 6 mix well.
  • 7 turn into a deep, buttered 9 x 13-inch pan.
  • 8 cool, then break into pieces.
  • 9 dip into melted chocolate.
