Ingredients
- 4 unsweetened chocolate squares (4-ounces)
- 1/4 cup butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup pecans, chopped
- powdered sugar, for rolling dough in
Recipe
- 1 in a large heavy saucepan, melt chocolate and butter over low heat, stirring constantly. remove from heat. cool slightly.
- 2 beat in sugar. add eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition.
- 3 stir in vanilla.
- 4 mix flour, baking powder and salt. stir into mixture. fold in nuts. chill for about 30 minutes.
- 5 shape dough into 1-inch balls. roll in powdered sugar. arrange on ungreased baking sheets.
- 6 bake at 300° for 18-20 minutes. remove from sheets to wire racks. cool.
- 7 store airtight.
