Rum Mocha Chocolate Sauce

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/4 lb butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup strained unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons dark rum
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dry instant coffee
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Recipe

  • 1 in a medium-size heavy saucepan over low heat melt the butter.
  • 2 add the sugar, cocoa, rum, heavy cream, and salt.
  • 3 stir over moderate heat until the mixture comes to a boil.
  • 4 add the instant coffee and stir to dissolve.
  • 5 reduce the heat and let simmer for 5 minutes.
  • 6 remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla.
