Patent Leather Icing - Glossy Chocolate

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 25 mins

Ingredients

  • 3 ounces chocolate
  • 1 well beaten egg
  • 3/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Recipe

  • 1 melt the chocolate in the top of a double boiler.
  • 2 combine the egg, milk, water and sugar and stir into the chocolate.
  • 3 cook the icing over hot water for 20 minutes, stirring often.
  • 4 remove it from the steam.
  • 5 beat it with a rotary beater for 1 minute or until well blended.
  • 6 stir in the vanilla.
  • 7 cool the icing before spreading it.
  • 8 tightly covered and stored in the refrigerator it will keep for several days.
