Hot Chocolate With Cardamom

Ingredients

  • Servings: 1
  • 2 ounces chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup cream
  • 2 green cardamom pods, lightly crushed
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • freshly grated nutmeg, as garnish

Recipe

  • 1 place chocolate in a mug; set aside.
  • 2 heat milk, cream and cardamom in a 1-qt. saucepan over medium heat until just beginning to bubble at edges, about 3 minutes.
  • 3 remove from heat, strain, discarding cardamom, and stir in vanilla.
  • 4 pour over chocolate and let sit for 1 minute.
  • 5 whisk until smooth. sprinkle with freshly grated nutmeg to serve.
