Pumpkin Cream Cheese Squares

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup canned solid-pack pumpkin
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 375. grease 9x13 baking pan.
  • 2 for filling: whisk together cream cheese, sugar and egg until well blended. set aside.
  • 3 for batter: combine pumpkin, sugar, egg, and oil. mix well.
  • 4 stir in flour, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, and ginger. pour into prepared pan.
  • 5 drizzle cream cheese mixture over batter. cut through batter with knife several times for marbled effect.
  • 6 sprinkle with chocolate morsels, if desired.
  • 7 bake 25-30 minutes or until tester inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • 8 cool, cut into squares.
