Red Velvet Cake

Total Time: 45 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup crisco
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 tablespoons instant powdered chocolate milk mix
  • 3 tablespoons red food coloring
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 1/4 cups sifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 6 tablespoons crisco
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Recipe

  • 1 pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2 cream crisco and sugar together.
  • 3 add eggs, chocolate milk mix and food coloring and mix well.
  • 4 add buttermilk, flour, salt and vanilla; mix well.
  • 5 to a small bowl add vinegar and baking soda.
  • 6 fold this into the cake mixture.
  • 7 pour into a greased and flour pan.
  • 8 depending on the size of your pan bake for about 30 minutes or until done.
  • 9 to prepare icing: cream butter, sugar and crisco.
  • 10 add one at a time flour, milk and vanilla.
  • 11 beat for 12 minutes or until fluffy.
