Red Velvet Cake

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup crisco
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 3 tablespoons instant powdered chocolate milk mix
- 3 tablespoons red food coloring
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 1/4 cups sifted flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon vinegar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 6 tablespoons crisco
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Recipe
- 1 pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
- 2 cream crisco and sugar together.
- 3 add eggs, chocolate milk mix and food coloring and mix well.
- 4 add buttermilk, flour, salt and vanilla; mix well.
- 5 to a small bowl add vinegar and baking soda.
- 6 fold this into the cake mixture.
- 7 pour into a greased and flour pan.
- 8 depending on the size of your pan bake for about 30 minutes or until done.
- 9 to prepare icing: cream butter, sugar and crisco.
- 10 add one at a time flour, milk and vanilla.
- 11 beat for 12 minutes or until fluffy.
