Puffed Wheat Squares

Total Time: 6 mins Preparation Time: 3 mins Cook Time: 3 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter or 1/4 cup margarine
  • 3/4 cup corn syrup
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa (optional)
  • 8 cups puffed wheat cereal
  • candy sprinkles

Recipe

  • 1 measure puffed wheat into a large bowl.
  • 2 melt butter in a saucepan.
  • 3 add syrup, sugar, cocoa.
  • 4 when mixture begins to boil, boil for 3 minutes and then remove from heat.
  • 5 add vanilla.
  • 6 pour over puffed wheat and mix well.
  • 7 press into a 9x12 inch cake pan.
  • 8 scatter sprinkles while still warm and pat down to be sure they will stick.
  • 9 cool completely.
