Marshmallow Fudge Squares

Total Time: 50 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 12 marshmallows, cut in half
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 -3 ounces hershey bars
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar

Recipe

  • 1 cream shortening with sugar.
  • 2 add eggs and mix well.
  • 3 sift together flour, baking powder, salt, and cocoa.
  • 4 add to creamed mixture.
  • 5 stir in vanilla and chopped nuts.
  • 6 spread in a 13 x 9" greased pan.
  • 7 bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes.
  • 8 remove from oven and arrange the marshmallow halves evenly over the top.
  • 9 turn off oven, return pan to oven for 3 minutes.
  • 10 spread topping and spread on top.
  • 11 topping: boil brown sugar, water and chocolate for 3 minutes in saucepan.
  • 12 remove from heat and stir in butter, vanilla and confectioner's sugar.
  • 13 cool and cut into squares.
