Noreta's Chocolate Cake

Total Time: 1 hr 15 mins Preparation Time: 45 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 6 tablespoons milk
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2/3 cup pecans, chopped

Recipe

  • 1 heat oven to 350°f.
  • 2 grease and flour a 13 x9 baking pan.
  • 3 in a large mixing bowl, stir together 2 cups of flour and 2 cups of sugar. set aside.
  • 4 in a saucepan, bring 2 sticks butter, 4 tbsp cocoa, and 1 cup water to a boil.
  • 5 pour over flour and sugar mixture.
  • 6 add in 1/2 cup buttermilk, 2 eggs, 2tsp baking soda, and 1 tsp vanilla.
  • 7 pour into greased and floured baking pan and bake for 30 minutes.
  • 8 while baking, mix together the following:.
  • 9 1 stick softened butter, 4 tbsp cocoa powder, 6 tbsp milk, 4 cups powdered sugar, 1 tsp vanilla, 2/3 cup chopped pecans.
  • 10 as soon as cake is out of oven, spread frosting over cake.
