Spicy Cocoa Muffins

Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups flour
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 6 tablespoons cocoa
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (i use extra large ones)
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven at 400 degrees.
- 2 mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and salt together in a large bowl.
- 3 in a separate bowl, combine the eggs, buttermilk and melted butter.
- 4 add the liquid mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring just enough to moisten.
- 5 fold in the chocolate chips.
- 6 spoon the mixture into greased muffin pans, filling 3/4 full.
- 7 bake until a toothpick comes out clean, about 15 minutes.
- 8 remove immediately from the tins and cool briefly on a wire rack.
