Mom's Banana Devil's Food Cake

Ingredients

- 2 cups cake flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 cup shortening or 1/2 cup lard
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 cup mashed ripe banana
- 2 ounces baking chocolate, melted and cooled
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Recipe
- 1 sift together flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder.
- 2 cram shortening, add sugar and cream together until light and fluffy.
- 3 add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- 4 add banana pulp, then melted chocolate.
- 5 combine milk and vanilla.
- 6 add dry ingredients alternatly with milk mixture to the creamed mixture, beat well.
- 7 pour into a greased 9x13 pan, bake at 350f for 45 minutes.
