Kahlua Mousse

Total Time: 1 hr Preparation Time: 45 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons kahlua
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3 ounces semisweet chocolate
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons kahlua
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • mint leaf, for garnish
  • chocolate stick, for garnish

Recipe

  • 1 beat egg yolks and 2 tbsp kahlua in the top of a double boiler.
  • 2 beat in 1/4 cup sugar and beat until slightly thickened,and color lightens.
  • 3 place pan over boiling water.
  • 4 cook stir until thickened,about ten minutes.
  • 5 set top of double boiler in a bowl of cold water.
  • 6 beat until mixture is thick, 3-4 minutes.
  • 7 melt chocolate and butter together.
  • 8 stir in remaining 2 tbsp kahlua.
  • 9 add to egg mixture.
  • 10 beat whites until soft peaks form.
  • 11 add remaining sugar.
  • 12 beat until stiff peaks form.
  • 13 add to chocolate mixture.
  • 14 beat whipping cream stiff.
  • 15 fold into chocolate mixture.
  • 16 spoon mousse into parfait glasses or dessert cups.
  • 17 chill 3 hours before serving.
